Motorcycle Ownership Transfer in Bangladesh
Buying a used bike means changing the registration into your name. Here is what that involves.
The structure and the arithmetic on this page are finished, but the amounts have not been checked against BRTA's own published fee schedule. Until they are, no number here should be treated as fact and these pages are kept out of the sitemap and out of search. A wrong fee is worse than no page, because people budget against it. BRTA publishes the schedule here.
Documents you need
- Original registration certificate
- Sale agreement signed by both parties
- National ID copy of buyer and seller
- TIN certificate where required
- Up to date tax token
- Both parties present at the BRTA office, or a notarised authorisation
Fee by engine class
The transfer fee is banded by engine capacity, the same way registration is.
Before you hand over money
Check the registration certificate matches the chassis and engine numbers on the bike itself, and that the tax token is current. An unpaid token becomes your problem the moment the bike is in your name.
